In honor of anninyn being away on some steampunk adventure business, I bring you steampunk finds for post-apocalyptic life!
Thing one
An amazeballs free guide to apocalyptic living steampunk style from the talented folks at steampunk magazine. This 56-page guide covers water filtration and storage, assessing your surroundings, self defense, an overview of contagions and much more.
Thing two
Steampunk Apocalypse by ShadesOfEarth (Crystal Yates). This is a pretty amazing depiction of the four horsemen (sans horses) of the apocalypse as described in chapter 6 of the book of Revelations. Dag, Death is so dapper!

Thing Three
Boneshaker by Cherie Priest.
This is an interesting mix of zombie and steampunk fiction. I did not read this book but I do like the cover art. It got mixed reviews over at Amazon.
In the early days of the Civil War, rumors of gold in the frozen Klondike brought hordes of newcomers to the Pacific Northwest. Anxious to compete, Russian prospectors commissioned inventor Leviticus Blue to create a great machine that could mine through Alaska’s ice. Thus was Dr. Blue’s Incredible Bone-Shaking Drill Engine born.
But on its first test run the Boneshaker went terribly awry, destroying several blocks of downtown Seattle and unearthing a subterranean vein of blight gas that turned anyone who breathed it into the living dead.
Now it is sixteen years later, and a wall has been built to enclose the devastated and toxic city. Just beyond it lives Blue’s widow, Briar Wilkes. Life is hard with a ruined reputation and a teenaged boy to support, but she and Ezekiel are managing. Until Ezekiel undertakes a secret crusade to rewrite history.
His quest will take him under the wall and into a city teeming with ravenous undead, air pirates, criminal overlords, and heavily armed refugees. And only Briar can bring him out alive.
Thing Four
A farm truck turned into a steampunk survival vehicle, complete with furnace and rivets. The truck is a left over prop from the movie The Last Airbender. (via 1A Auto)
Buy it now on eBay for $13,995 or the zombies will win. eBay Item # 380354878683
Ooo, look at Death, all dapper and ready for the ballroom. Though I like War’s outfit…
Also, that farm truck is all kinds of awesome.
You have made my day. I’m a growing fan of Steampunk, so it’s good to see that there’s a way of having that lifestyle post-apocalypse 🙂
While I was away being steampunky I purchased a steampunk gasmask. Just in case.
I was at Lincoln Steampunk Asylum. Any reasonably interested steampunk should try and make it.
